    My First Juried Show

    I entered and was accepted to my first juried show, notBIG(4) at the M.S. Rezny Studio/Gallery on Manchester in Lexington, KY! This is a big personal goal I've accomplished and I'm very pleased to have one of my favorite pieces I've ever made in a gallery! notBIG(4) is a biannual show where all the works have to be smaller than 12 inches. The piece is titled "Two Souls on a Sea" and is an assemblage made of deer vertebrae, driftwood, old mattress springs, maps, fabric scrap

    Lucky me! A coworker invited me to learn how to pin insects she and her husband had collected on a camping trip. I got a lovely tour of the University of Kentucky greenhouses and saw a lovely collection of tropical plants, including these carnivorous plants! Next thing we crack open a bottle of Zombie Dust (a coveted beer, I hear) and start to sticking! I learned that the seventeen year cicaida was four years early and that spiders are soft bodied and don't really pin that

    I really love doing craft swaps – for those of you unaware of this super amazing thing, it is when you and a partner make a crafty object around a theme and personal interests. There are set guidelines on how much time and money is spent on a project and how long you should take. At the end of the crafting period you and your partner swap (usually by mail)! It’s a good way to get a handcrafted, custom made item that you couldn't make yourself. Anyway, the theme for this swap
